Last week, I had the incredible honor of being featured in Gaya Travel with one of the most personal pieces I’ve ever written: “The New Luxury: Why High-Achieving Women Are Trading 5-Star Hotels for Transformational Retreats.”
This wasn’t just another travel article.
It was my story — the real one. The messy one. The one that began at a dinner table where a relationship quietly ended, but my entire life quietly began.
For years, I lived the version of success we’re taught to chase:
The apartment. The income. The clients. The travel. The glossy, enviable life that photographs well.
But inside?
I felt like a guest in my own body.
A supporting character in my own life.
It wasn’t until a retreat cracked me open that I realized how deeply I’d abandoned myself while achieving everything I thought I wanted.
And here’s the thing:
I’m not alone.
Across every retreat I’ve hosted, the same patterns show up in women who are brilliant, accomplished, admired — yet quietly disconnected from their own truth. Women who have the outer success but crave the inner alignment. Women who want their life to feel like theirs again.
That’s what my Gaya Travel feature is really about:
Not travel.
Not wellness as an aesthetic.
But the moment you decide you’re no longer available for “happy enough.”
It’s about the new luxury:
- Spaciousness
- Community
- Self-inquiry
- Embodiment
- Coming home to yourself
It’s about trading escape for transformation.
Distraction for depth.
Performance for presence.
Writing this article reminded me why Thrive Collective exists. Why these retreats matter. Why women keep saying yes to themselves, often for the first time in years.
If you’ve been feeling like you’re in the passenger seat of your own life… this article is for you.
If you’ve been wondering why your achievements don’t feel like success… this article is for you.
If you’ve been craving something you can’t quite name — but you know you’ll recognize it when you feel it… this article is for you.
I hope it lands the way it landed in me.
Because the shift you’re craving isn’t indulgent.
It’s necessary.
